That "$99 whole-house special" is a bait ad - the real number appears once they are in your hallway, or the "clean" is a shop-vac at the register. We photograph the inside of your ducts before and after instead.
Abatement Technologies Coil Cleaning: The Austin Owner’s Guide
If your Abatement Technologies unit is blowing warm air, running longer than it should, or icing up, the evaporator coil is almost always where the trouble starts. We stock and install Abatement Technologies-compatible coil cleaning parts and service kits for Austin homes, with most coil cleaning jobs running between $180 and $420 installed depending on access and how badly the coil is fouled. In Austin’s climate, coils collect a sticky paste of cedar pollen, cottonwood fibers, and the fine limestone dust that blows in from the Hill Country, and once that layer builds up, your system works harder every single day until it’s addressed.
Which Abatement Technologies Models This Applies To
Abatement Technologies builds coil cleaning systems and filtration units that show up most often in Austin homes as part of whole-house IAQ packages or standalone coil treatment setups. The coil cleaning hardware we service crosses the A series and the CM series, plus the older P-series panels that still turn up in homes built in the late 1990s and early 2000s around Brentwood and Crestview. The reliable way to identify what you have is the label plate on the side of the unit: the model number, series letter, and coil dimensions are printed there. Measure the coil face width and height before you call, because a half-inch difference changes which cleaning pad or access kit fits. We install OEM Abatement Technologies coil cleaning components when the unit is still under warranty or when the coil spec is tight, and we carry proven aftermarket equivalents for older systems where OEM has been discontinued. The honest difference is fit tolerance and pad density, and on units ten years or older, a quality aftermarket pad often outperforms a dried-out OEM original.
Kestrel Air Duct Austin is an independent service provider. We’re not affiliated with Abatement Technologies, and we don’t pretend to be. We just work on their equipment often enough to know its quirks.
Styles & brands we work with

Signs Your Abatement Technologies Coil Cleaning Is Failing
- Reduced airflow from the registers: the coil face is coated with a mat of dust and pollen that chokes off air movement. This is the earliest sign in Austin homes, and it shows up strongest in the rooms farthest from the air handler.
- The system runs longer to reach set temperature: a fouled coil can’t transfer heat efficiently, so the compressor runs nearly constantly during August. Your energy bill tells the story before the thermostat does.
- Ice forming on the coil or refrigerant lines: when airflow drops far enough, the coil temperature falls below freezing and condensate freezes. This looks alarming, but it’s usually a dirty coil rather than a refrigerant leak.
- Musty odor from the vents when the blower starts: Austin’s humidity plus a damp coil surface breeds mildew in the organic matter stuck to the fins. The coil cleaning pad is meant to prevent this, and when it’s loaded past capacity, the smell follows.
- Water staining or rust below the air handler: a coil so blocked that condensate drips past the drain pan is a coil that should have been cleaned months ago. At this stage, the cleaning pad and the coil face both need attention.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
Most Abatement Technologies coil cleaning replacements in Austin land between $180 and $420 installed. The spread comes down to access, because a coil tucked into a tight attic crawl near Mueller or a closet air handler in an older Allandale rancher takes longer to open up than a basement unit. The price includes the replacement cleaning pad or kit, coil cleaning itself, condensate pan inspection, and reassembly, all quoted as one flat number before we touch a screw. A simple pad swap on an easily accessible unit runs at the low end. A full coil surface clean plus new pad plus access work runs at the higher end. Every coil cleaning job we do carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise in writing: if the coil re-fouls within a year under normal operation, we return and make it right at no charge. No per-vent pricing, no surprise line items, no door-step revisions.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely pull the access panel and look at the coil face. If you see a gray or brown mat covering the fins and the pad is crumbling, that’s your answer. You can also replace the coil cleaning pad itself on many Abatement Technologies units, since it’s designed as a user-serviceable part. What gets risky is anything involving the refrigerant lines or the sealed coil housing. Opening the wrong seam on a charged system can release refrigerant, which is illegal to vent and dangerous to breathe. It’s also the moment a $200 cleaning becomes a $1,500 repair. If the unit is under warranty, a DIY attempt can void it. Call us at (254) 848-6913 and we’ll quote the whole job before we come out. Clean ducts move air. Everything else is just noise.
FAQs
In Austin, we tell homeowners to plan on replacing the coil cleaning pad every 12 to 18 months, and to inspect it every spring before cooling season starts in earnest.
Sometimes the coil surface can be cleaned and the existing pad reused if it’s still intact and within its service life, but most pads degrade with moisture and Austin’s pollen load so replacement is the honest fix.
Most coil cleaning pad replacements and coil cleans take 45 to 90 minutes once we’re on site, depending on access and how thoroughly the coil face needs to be treated.
We stock the common Abatement Technologies coil cleaning pads and kits for the A and CM series on our trucks, plus we can order OEM replacements for older P-series units with a two-day lead time in Austin.
