Worth knowing

That "$99 whole-house special" is a bait ad - the real number appears once they are in your hallway, or the "clean" is a shop-vac at the register. We photograph the inside of your ducts before and after instead.

Air Duct Cleaning Before & After in Austin, TX

The proof of a duct cleaning isn’t in the pitch, it’s in what comes out of the vents and what the inside of the duct looks like when we’re finished. We take before-and-after photos on every job for exactly that reason. A clean register cover tells you nothing. A photo of the duct wall before agitation and after negative-air extraction tells you the whole story. Here’s a look at the kind of work we do across Austin, from Tarrytown condos to Round Rock family homes.

Whole-Home Duct Cleaning With Cedar Pollen Load

BeforeBeforeAfterAfter
Return duct in an Austin home: heavy cedar pollen and dust matting before cleaning, clean galvanized wall after.

In a four-bedroom house in the Cherry Creek neighborhood of South Austin, every return duct we opened carried the same gray-yellow film: cedar pollen and fine dust matted to the duct walls. The homeowners had lived there for seven years with the original construction debris still inside. We ran our Rotobrush rotary brush system through the supply and return lines, then pulled everything loose out with the Nikro negative-pressure unit while HEPA filtration ran at the access point. After four hours, the duct walls went from matted gray to bare galvanized metal. The blower wheel, which had been caked with a quarter-inch of lint and pollen paste, was scrubbed by hand before we sealed everything back up.

Flex-Duct Spiderweb and Return Chase Full of Sheetrock Dust

BeforeBeforeAfterAfter
Flex-duct run in a North Austin home: construction dust packed into the ribs before cleaning, clear airflow after.

This one came from a remodel in the Domain area where the HVAC system was never isolated during drywall work. The return chase was packed with sheetrock dust, and the flex-duct ribs had collected enough of it to reduce airflow to the upstairs bedrooms. Brush agitation on those ribbed walls is where the Rotobrush earns its keep. We worked it through the full run, then put the Nikro unit on negative pressure at the register to pull the loosened dust out rather than push it into the rooms. The before photo shows dust packed into every rib. The after photo shows the same duct with the ribs defined and clean.

Dryer Vent Lint Removal With Lint Trap Bypass

BeforeBeforeAfterAfter
Dryer vent in a Mueller neighborhood home: lint packed behind the trap and through the bypass, cleared with a rotary brush and extraction.

The lint trap in a dryer is only the first filter, not the last word. In this Mueller house, lint had bypassed the trap entirely and packed the first six feet of the vent run solid enough that the dryer was throwing heat-limit warnings. We ran a rotary brush through the full run from the dryer connection to the exterior hood, then extracted the debris out the same path. The bypass section behind the trap was the worst of it, almost three inches of packed lint in a four-inch pipe. After cleaning, the run was clear and the dryer’s airflow test showed steady pressure at the roof cap.

Pet Hair and Dander Matting in Return Registers

Return register in a Westlake home: pet hair and dander packed into the register before, clean grille and moving air after.

Three dogs and a long-haired cat in a Westlake Hills house will do predictable things to a return air system. The return registers looked like dryer lint screens after a month of laundry. We pulled each register, cleaned the vanes, and then worked the return trunk with the Rotobrush while the Nikro held negative pressure so hair and dander never drifted back into the living space. The Abatement Technologies HEPA filter at the machine captured what the eye couldn’t see. The after photo shows a register you can see daylight through and a return trunk free of the gray hair mat that had lined it.

Construction Debris and Paint Overspray Removal Post-Renovation

Supply duct in an East Austin remodel: drywall chunks, sawdust, and paint overspray before, clean metal after cleaning.

This East Austin job was a full kitchen and bath remodel where someone forgot to tape off the supply registers before spraying and cutting. We found drywall screws, sawdust, and a surprising amount of paint overspray inside the supply lines. The Rotobrush knocked the debris loose at the duct wall, then the Nikro pulled it out through the negative-pressure extraction. We also cleaned the registers themselves, which were speckled with paint. The before photo is what your lungs would prefer you never see. The after photo is what a clear supply duct should look like before the system runs again.

Downstairs Dust and Sand Infiltration From Dry Climate Air Leaks

Supply duct in a Buda-area home: fine dust and sand pulled in through leaky connections before, clean after cleaning.

The ground around Austin gives up a lot of fine dust when the dry months settle in, and leaky duct connections will pull that dust straight into the system. In this Buda house, the downstairs supply ducts had collected a layer of very fine sand and dust that had been circulating through the home for years. We cleaned the full run and the homeowners had the connections sealed afterward. The before photo shows the duct floor coated in fine grit. The after photo shows the same duct with clean metal and no visible debris, ready to move air instead of dust.
